Before you buy: will it work on your phone?

Two things have to be true.

• Your phone supports eSIM. Most phones from about 2019 onwards do. On iPhone, look for Settings → Mobile Data → Add eSIM. On Android, Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add eSIM. If the option is not there, your phone cannot take an eSIM.
• Your phone is not carrier-locked. A phone locked to one operator will refuse a second profile. Your current operator can tell you, and usually unlock it. Do this before you travel, while you can still do something about it.

We would rather you find this out now than at an airport. If you are not sure, email us the make and model before you buy.

Some destinations need one extra step

On most plans the phone configures itself. A few need an APN set by hand — an internet access point name. Where that applies, the exact value is in your delivery email for that plan, and it takes about thirty seconds to enter. Japan on iPhone is the one that comes up most often.

Some countries require SIM users to register an identity document before a line can be activated. Where that applies, the destination page says so before you buy, not after.

If the email does not arrive

1. Check spam and promotions. It is an automated email with a QR code attached, which is exactly what filters are suspicious of.
2. Check the address you typed. One wrong character and it went somewhere else.
3. Email hello@gojowa.com with your order number. We can resend it to a corrected address.

Your order still exists whether or not the email got through. Nothing is lost.

One eSIM, one phone

An eSIM belongs to the phone you install it on. It cannot be moved to another device — if you change phone mid-trip, the plan does not come with you.

If you delete the profile by accident, you can install it again from the same QR code on the same phone. Keep the delivery email; it is the only copy of that code we send.

You can share the connection over hotspot where the plan allows it, and every plan page says whether it does.

Cancelling and refunds

See our refund policy. In short: full refund if you have not installed it and ask within 14 days, and a refund regardless of usage if the plan was faulty.

Payment security

This site runs entirely over HTTPS. Card details are entered on our payment provider's own secure form and are handled by them under the PCI Data Security Standards — we never see or store your card number.
