Before you buy
Three things have to be true. All three are checkable right now, in about a minute, and all three are much easier to fix at home than at an airport.
iPhone XS or newer, most Pixels from 3 onwards, recent Samsung Galaxy S and Z models. On iPhone: Settings → General → About → look for "Available SIM" or an EID number. On Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → look for "Download a SIM".
A phone bought on contract may be locked to the operator that sold it, and a locked phone refuses a second SIM. Your operator can tell you, and must unlock it once the contract is paid off.
After installing, data roaming must be enabled for the GOJOWA line specifically. This is the single most common reason a working eSIM shows no data, and it is two taps.
